At Franklin & Hare, we are more than furniture makers, we are skilled upholsterers, antique restorers, and craftspeople with a deep understanding of how exceptional furniture is built to last. Years spent restoring antique pieces have shaped our approach to every design, combining traditional upholstery knowledge with the finest natural materials, time-honoured techniques, and methods proven to stand the test of time.

Every piece is handcrafted in our Devon workshop, nestled on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, by skilled hands, using precision, artistry, and meticulous attention to detail to create furniture with lasting beauty, comfort, and integrity. Rooted in sustainability and exceptional British craftsmanship, our furniture is made not only to be lived with, but to endure for generations.

Every element of the showroom has been carefully considered to create a warm and immersive space where clients can truly experience the quality and craftsmanship that define our collections. From sitting in our bespoke pieces to exploring the textures and natural materials up close, the showroom has been designed to be both inspiring and deeply tactile. We have proudly collaborated with Bennison Fabrics throughout the space, whose fabrics we feel beautifully complement our pieces and the overall atmosphere of the showroom.

We are also excited to be showcasing two new additions to the F&H collection: the Downderry Sofa and the Stowford Armchair. Both pieces are meticulously handcrafted in our Dartmoor workshop using time-honoured techniques and the finest natural materials.

Handcrafted in our Dartmoor workshop in Devon, our furniture is inspired daily by the natural landscape that surrounds us, encouraging conscious craftsmanship, cleaner living, and interiors designed to last for generations.

This collaborative shoot with @weaver.green and @gpjbaker brings together timeless British design and sustainable living, featuring our Studland Armchair upholstered in GP & J Baker ‘Basil Stripe’ alongside our Loddiswell Sofa and St Eval Footstool upholstered in @whitepomegranatetextiles ‘Ikat Wave Cherry’.

Every piece is made by hand from the frame up using true time-honoured techniques, hand lashed coil springs, layers of the finest hand teased hair and coconut fibre, and meticulous hand stitching throughout. We believe exceptionally made furniture starts from within, creating pieces with lasting comfort, integrity, and craftsmanship at their core.

A pair of early 20th-century slipper chairs, beautifully restored by us. The chairs feature newly constructed, traditional hand-lashed coil-sprung seats, ensuring both comfort and longevity. The original backs are in excellent condition and have been newly upholstered in a classic ticking fabric. Raised on elegant turned legs. Upholstery of the top cover fabric is available by arrangement and is offered as an optional extra.
